Several Android device users around the world have been experiencing problems with many apps (eg Gmail) since dawn, receiving notifications that they have suddenly stopped working.
As expected, there was a flurry of reports on social networks and the problem was quickly identified, but so far Google has been content only to state that the system application “ Android System WebView ” is responsible for the situation. This specific application is the one that allows the opening of a browser window within the applications (eg when you open a link from Gmail you see the website directly from there).
The shortest solution to fix the problems is to uninstall the WebView updates by going to the device settings , then to the Apps section, then to the Android System WebView application and finally by selecting “ Uninstall Updates ”.
Logically, within the next few hours the issue will be finally resolved and we are waiting for an official statement from Google to explain what happened.
